Pretty Summer Clutch

It’s been awhile since I sewed something that actually worked… I failed miserably at my last few projects which is why I haven’t posted anything in quite some time.  But I finally bought some pretty fabrics from Spool when I was in Philly last, so it inspired me to make something simple and cute and not impossible.

Cookies for Coworkers

How can anyone NOT love baking?!  It’s like a science project that you get to eat later!

I bake for coworkers- that’s right, you want me on your shift! ;o)

Chocolate chip cookies for tonight..

Thai Red Curry with Chicken

Ohhhh yummy. With just a little help from Trader Joe’s, I was able to make some delicious red curry! I used one bottle of Trader Joe’s Thai Red Curry sauce, a can of lite coconut milk, 2 tbsp of brown sugar, some mushrooms and red peppers, and chicken. Was easy peasy and delicious!

Happy Nurse’s Week!

“If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain;
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.”
-Emily Dickinson

Happy Nurse’s Week to those who spend their days taking care of everyone else and yet still find time to take care of themselves..

The Most Astounding Fact

I just had to share this amazing, beautiful video.

The Most Astounding Fact

Ohhh yummy in my tummy!
I am a huge fan of chili, but until today, I have never made it myself.  I bought myself a spice rack and finally decided to make it.  Unfortunately, my spice rack didn’t have anything I needed, so I needed to buy more spices anyway!  Go figure.
I used the recipe found here, but I did make a few changes and additions that are pretty noteworthy.
1) I added 4 tbsp of brown sugar
2) Instead of 1 tsp of hot sauce, I used 3 tbsp (I like it spicy!)
3) I eliminated the pork and used 2.5 lbs of beef, plus a 1 lb 13 oz can of chili beans (I added this 1.5 hours into the simmer)
4) I couldn’t find any ground coriander, but my spice rack had whole coriander, so I ground them myself (I think it worked?)
5) For the beer, I used Yuengling
Top it with some shredded cheddar cheese, and it makes a delicious dinner!  I loved the chili- it really is very tasty!!  It makes a lot, so be sure to share, or enjoy it over the next few weeks by freezing it.

Anna’s Purse

I made this bag for Anna back in December for her birthday- I just forgot to photograph it and post it! So recently when she visited, we took a quick pic so that I could post it.

The bag has an “A” on it for Anna, it’s a zipper closure, and the inside, which we forgot to photograph, is pink with white polka dots. She loves it and uses it all the time! The bag is cute, but I have to say, the model is a thousand times cuter! Love you, Banny!

Salted Caramel Chocolate Shortbread Bars

This is absolutely, hands down, one of the most amazing things I have ever made.  Pinterest led me to this annie’s eats recipe, and it really was very easy to make, too.  It’s just scrumptious.  I used milk chocolate morsels instead of semi-sweet.  Warning:  This dessert is extremely sweet… take heed if you have an unfilled cavity or if you do not have any milk around.

My picture is not as nice and clean as hers.. but it sure does taste good.

The side of the bed I don’t sleep on.

March Photo Challenge: Day 3 – “Your Neighborhood”

I was home in Delaware this weekend, so yesterday’s photo was taken in my parent’s neighborhood… the one I grew up in.
